"I decided to use Jack Schlatter's book, Gifts by the Side of the Road as the theme for our year in the Counseling Department of Birdville ISD. At a special luncheon for National Counselor Appreciation Week in February, we invited Jack to speak to our entire counseling staff, and presented each with a signed copy of his book. Jack was a delight and truly celebrated the amazing contributions of our counselors with a message of inspiration and humor. His warm and inviting presence and heartfelt stories made the event a huge success."

Birdville ISD Counselors were so excited to have Jack Schlatter present at their National School Counselor Week Luncheon. To have the author of the wonderful book Gifts by the Side of the Road as the guest speaker was such an honor to the counselors. Another treat for our counselors was having Jack personally autograph each book. The counselors were so impressed with Jack's presentation that each counselor wanted him to personally autograph their book.
"Jack was such a delight to have as our speaker. Not only was he our guest speaker at the luncheon, but he also spoke to the counselors at an afternoon session. Jack was so flexible and was such a team player that he was willing to speak two different times to the counselors. Just whatever you need or want, Jack is willing to do it. And, Jack always had a smile on his face and was always a very happy and positive person.

While Jack was waiting for the luncheon to begin, Jack was walking around the room meeting the counselors and talking with them.
